Article 12: The load-bearing straw walls are made

It’s finished! All the load-bearing walls of the first house are filled with straw. In two months, we produced and filled all these boxes. There are two days of work left at Christophe’s to finish the elements, but the essentials are done.

Looking at all these filled, pre-stressed walls stored in the barn awaiting assembly – you realize the extent of what we have accomplished. And above all, we realize that it is not our job alone. It is the work of dozens of people who have given themselves without counting.

It was extraordinary to have all these motivated people coming together to help us.

Next step

At the carpenter, there are two days of work left to finish the wooden elements. After that, we will have completely completed this first phase. The assembly of the house is planned for January, when all these walls will be assembled and lifted to form the structure. It’s concrete, but we’re not quite there yet.
