Article 7: Setting up the site: The awning becomes our HQ
In October, we must prepare to welcome the volunteers. We recovered an old caravan from a campsite in Yverdon, with its awning. This is useful for having a sheltered place to eat and store tools.
Setting up takes longer than expected – moving the caravan and putting up the awning is no small thing. But once it’s in place, it’s really practical. We have a real rallying point for the site.
Dry toilets
At the same time, we are building dry toilets on the site with volunteers. It’s simple: a stainless steel bucket, sawdust, and it’s good to go. a good way to start before tackling the construction of the walls.

Readjustment of the calendar
The initial schedule changes a little. Preparation work is taking longer than expected. We finally decided to start manufacturing the boxes at Christophe’s on Friday, and to start the straw walls on the site on Wednesday October 30.
Good signs
The volunteers are there, and it’s encouraging. Even some architectural firms are showing interest in discovering this construction technique. The energy is there.
