Article 19: Kittens and preparation of facades
The month of May started with a surprise: when we opened a big bag of straw in the house, we discovered two kittens! A nice little break before getting back to work on the second coat of interior coating.
But the main objective of the moment has changed: we are tackling the preparation of the exterior walls. Before applying the lime plaster, the surface must be prepared. We start with “styling” the wall. It’s a big job that keeps us busy every weekend: we have to cover the wooden parts with Gutex (wood wool) so that the lime can adhere, then apply a first coat of adhesive.
The constraint? The weather. Over the past few weekends, we have had to untarp and re-tarp the house three times! We uncover in the morning to work, and we re-cover in the evening to protect the straw from the rain. It’s tedious, but necessary.
